my commitment to intentional movement

i won’t lie to you, i have spent YEARS losing weight. in 2017 i stepped on the scale on my 5 year wedding anniversary at my highest weight. if someone had asked me on our wedding day where we saw ourselves in 5 years, i would have easily said with a few kids, a happy home & maybe a beloved family pet. i stood there & decided enough was enough.

we had been trying to conceive for those 5 years & my body, my mind, my everything was STRESSED. i made the decision in that moment to focus on my own health. in 2017 i lose 125lbs. i also began understanding healthier habits. i began tracking macros, learning what my body responded best to & began some beginner at home youtube workouts. i conceived our beautiful daughter halfway through 2018.

postpartum followed by a quarantine was not my friend. i gained all of my weight back in 2020 so i made the decision to get bariatric surgery in 2021. the year following i lost another 125lbs. crazy, right? well, i stalled. it’s almost like my body feels comfortable here, still 100+lbs overweight (imo) so what gives?! well, in 2023 i did hormone testing, a hair tissue mineral analysis & began working with a dietician, personal trainer & hormone coach. i began learning about why my body could be stalling & got my cycle back on track. i began eating with my hormones in mind! then the movement came along & i will admit that i struggled. halfway through 2023 when i connected with kelli, she put me on a workout plan but i will be honest … even though the workouts were something i enjoyed, i didn’t feel compelled to carve out the time to workout because it still didn’t feel RIGHT to me.

so i began to habit stack! i began to add things i love around & with the things i had to learn to love! i put movement in the middle of my day so it didn’t feel like an interruption to the morning routine i had built to love! i chose to nourish myself with breakfast & get some work done so i didn’t feel completely “behind” on work tasks leading into movement that already wasn’t my absolute favorite.

i also got really real with myself! i wasn’t ready to workout 4x a week! so i began with 2x a week & switched up the routine to lifting weights / strength training that would fit for every phase of my cycle so i wouldn’t overcomplicate anything but would still be honoring my hormones. the other thing i did that i love? i made a space in my home that felt inspiring to me & made me want to move in there! i also stopped “working out” & starting just moving intentionally!

i say all this to say that if there’s something you’re struggling with finding time for yourself or figuring out how to love something you know will be good for you, you can do it! i created a free guide to building your ideal day & i would love to help you create your ideal day & be a small part of the joy that it brings you. if you’re interested friend, you can download it here.
