finding balance as an entrepreneur
it’s no secret that owning your own business, while it comes with many perks, requires a certain level of discipline. one thing that was key for me when starting my own business was finding a true balance of work & life. this is so important for entrepreneurs because we are starting our own businesses because we want the freedom to be our own boss, right? so we need to ENJOY that freedom.
i won’t lie & tell you i am an expert with this, i am STILL learning different things that work & don’t work for me to this day, but what's key is that i am TRYING. i have leaned into my business with passion, choosing to do the things that bring me joy & outsource the work that doesn’t. while i understand everyone cannot afford to do that, you can afford to give yourself grace, set realistic goals to avoid overwhelm & spend the time to map out your priorities to put yourself in a position of doing what you love every single day.
so how did i get started as an entrepreneur? well, i actually own multiple businesses. i’ve even owned & sold businesses. i started working as a freelance virtual assistant years ago when i wanted to work from home & be my own boss in a sense. i had control over most of my time doing this but ultimately was still working for someone else. i then began a consulting firm for businesses needing help with their marketing & sales. i traveled with my husband to many different states, enjoyed being a part of the ground level of getting started in so many businesses & still do some consulting to this day. i then decided to get my real estate license & got into real estate investing. i worked building out operations for a real estate investment company exclusively & remotely for my entire pregnancy. it was amazing to have one solid, reliable client & the flexibility to consult, meaning i worked on my own terms, during that beautiful time in my life.
when i had my daughter in 2019, i knew i wanted to be a mom FIRST. it was crucial for me to find something that i could do to bring income into our family but still be a mom, wife & homemaker first. this is when i discovered social selling. sharing a company’s products i was already using & loving while getting paid to do it, sounds like a dream, right? it really is.
now i have had my instagram since 2017 when i started documenting my weight loss journey in order to try to conceive then eventually document new motherhood after having my daughter. my instagram remained wellness focused, we moved into our dream home & i created versatility in my corner of the internet.
i had worked with brands since starting my instagram, reaching out when a need arose like dock-a-tot when i was pregnant, regalo baby when we wanted a cute playmat for the new playroom & more. as my content improved & my community grew, brands began reaching out to me. all the while, i still had my social selling income stream from sharing young living at the time. remember, i am literally using my thieves cleaner every single day, diffusing oils every single day, etc. so its so simple to just share!
fast forward to today & i work alongside multiple social selling companies sharing products i am so passionate about as well as work with brands that i am so passionate about sharing with you, that i also use & truly believe in. i have also built out platforms like liketoknowit & amazon to share items i am buying & loving, setting up affiliate links with brands to work together long term to give friends like you a discount & contribute financially to my family while doing so as well.
so you see, i just named about half a dozen different ways i earn money online, from my home, while putting my family & home first. it’s possible, friend. while it may require more work in the beginning, while you may need to give yourself some grace, making a plan is truly key.
if i started all over again? i would do these three things:
make a list of dream brands i’d love to work with
make a list of the products/brands i use everyday
put together a quick brand page to visualize how i plan to start my business
did you know i also work with entrepreneurs like you? i provide a discovery call where i get to know you, we talk about your dreams & what you see for yourself & your future, then i provide you with more information on the action steps above. the best part? since i feel called to truly share this with you, i do this initial discovery call & provide that guidance at no cost to you. think of it as a friend you’re having coffee with. there’s no gimmicks, no sales pitch, absolutely nothing. i do these calls because i want you to feel capable of doing more for yourself!
if you feel called to chat, you can fill this quick form out to chat. during our call, we will set you up with a template to create your brand page & create a media kit you can share with brands you’d love to work with! there’s no time like right now, to take the first step in achieving your dreams. chat soon, friend.
