a year in review
i have so much to say about 2023. i mean really, we went THROUGH it. like a lot of it. who remembers the car saga?! our kia was less than 2 years old & the engine went. we decided to buy an older nissan from a family locally for $2500 since my husband would be graduating about 6 months later & only a couple months in THAT CAR BLEW UP! literally, caught fire on the turnpike, yes hubby is fine but we lost the car & his work equipment worth thousands! we financed a new to us car & have that now (so much for no car payment for a bit) & we love it. your girl is also v grateful for that saga to end.
we also began trying to another babe this year & while that hasn’t happened for us yet, we’re trusting God’s timing. we are all entering into 2024 with our health intact, stress levels mostly managed & my hubby even started a new job this month so finding a bit more financial comfort heading into 2024 as well which is always nice!

i know, same girl. i wanted to chat a bit about my second 6 figure year. in 2022 i was blessed to finish the year grossing over $100k in income between my brand partnerships through the blog here & my instagram , affiliate marketing income & my digital marketing business that i started in the spring of 2021!
in 2023, i actually grossed even more income, hitting over $100k for a second year in a row! i continued to work with brands i love & trust to recommend to friends like YOU who are wonderful enough to purchase using my links, i also added more affiliate income streams with brands that i found myself reaching for more often & sharing with you & lastly, i added in ugc content!
now i know you might be like ugc is … scratching your head! don’t worry, it’s actually super simple! ugc stands for user generated content! basically, brands will request social media content in exchange for the product(s) and/or payment! the best part? you’re not required to share any of this to your social media so it’s not feeling like sponsored posts every single day & you get to discover brands you love & work longer term on an affiliate basis to eventually share on your own space to earn extra income! i have done this with several brands this year & it’s been a great way to boost income!
my favorite platform to be a part of for ugc content is currently social cat. social cat essentially has you connect your social platforms so brands can get an idea of the type of content you create (some do ask for you to post on your platforms/have different requirements so make sure you read thoroughly!) then you review the opportunities there, apply to the ones you feel confident you’d share successfully & the brands will send you the product(s) to try & create content with!
there are 3 different ways to work with brands on social cat! paid, gifted & affiliate! i recommend starting out with gifted & seeing if there are brands you' already love or would be willing to buy under the affiliate option first! this gets your “feet wet” allows you to see how the flow goes & gives you some “cred” on the platform! then head into the paid side & bid accordingly! the brand usually has a budget so make sure it’s in line with your value of your work babe!
